Custom Ariel
Mike English originally commissioned this guitar in 1982. That is actually a mirror, made in that shape. It isn't a trick. Notice the edges of all the individual panels.
A series of photographs by Keith Beardmore within a complex studio set - no retouching or computer enhancement, just lots of work.

The lanterns were picked out by individual spotlights - look at those shadows. Even the branches and lanterns are cut outs, not painted onto the background.
Falstaff (left) and Oberon The lighting on these wasn't just to show the guitars, the shadows became part of the pictures. All the sets and props were hand painted and jig sawed from mdf sheet, by a local theatre designer.
The mandolin family The 'sky' and two floor sections were individual plywood panels painted in perspective. The curtains are two more panels, with two more 'stage left'
Single Malt Alexander One of my favourite shots. That poor guy missed his tea break for this photograph, stood there in a cloud of steam for 30 minutes. Word of advice - never argue with a cooper. If he wants to help, he will. If he doesn't.
