Please note: due to changes in regulations and constant design developments, we sometimes need to change details such as binding and inlay materials.
All our guitars have luxurious bound fingerboards. In order to remove plastic from an all wood instrument, we are now using ebony for the fingerboard bindings. We select those pieces of ebony with a little "colour" to emphasis the natural material, the ebony is lacquered, polished and gently blended into the neck shape and fret ends for a wonderfully smooth feel and playing action.
It’s worth noting that at Fylde we have put a lot of thought into fret ends. We like to leave the playing surface of the fret as long and level as possible, not tapered off to nothing like electric guitars, or filed into clumsy round shapes that finger ends will crash into. On a Fylde guitar, the strings have less chance off falling off the fingerboard edge and can be spaced a little wider in the nut to gain extra finger room even without a wide neck. Then you can "get you thumb over" whenever you like.
