Another recent commission. A Falstaff, with a cutaway, and eight strings. Would you believe we added the cutaway when the guitar was nearly finished? I do enjoy a challenge.
There are lots of ways that a few extra strings can be added to a guitar, this variation has high octaves set below the G and D strings, so that down strokes catch the note first, and the octave a fraction later. It’s a great sound, perfect for Byrd’s tunes.
